Science laboratory learning environment and science major students critical thinking skills
Abstract
This study aimed to determine the infuence of science laboratory learning
environment to the critical thinking skills of students at The University of Southeastern
University during AY 2014-2015. The sample was determined using the Universal
sampling technique. The researcher used Science Laboratory Learning Environment
Questionnaire and Questionnaire on Critical Thinking Skills. The level of science
laboratory learning environment idicated moderate level of open-endedness and
material environment, high level of rule clarity, high level of integration, and high level
of student’s cohesiveness. The critical thinking skills of students was high based on all
its indicators such as interpretation, analysis, evaluation, inference and explanation.
Through non-experimental quantitative research design utilizing correlational
technique, multiple regression and mean, results revealed that there was a significant
influence of science laboratory learning environment on critical thinking skills.
