Factors characterizing students' attitudes toward learning social studies : an exploratory factor analysis
Abstract
This study explores the factors that characterize students' attitudes toward learning social studies through an exploratory factor analysis. By examining a diverse sample of students from various educational settings, the research aims to identify and understand the underlying dimensions that influence their perceptions and engagement with the subject. The analysis reveals several key factors, including interest in current events, perceived relevance of the content, teaching methods, and the influence of peers and family. These factors collectively shape students' attitudes, either enhancing or hindering their motivation and academic performance in social studies. The findings suggest that tailored instructional strategies and supportive learning environments could improve students' attitudes, thereby fostering greater engagement and achievement in social studies education. This study provides valuable insights for educators and policymakers seeking to enhance the effectiveness of social studies curricula.
