Public leadership behavior and workplace commitment of barangay officials in Davao City

This study aimed to determine which domain in public leadership behavior best influences the workplace commitment of the selected Barangay Officials in Davao City. A quantitative non-experimental design employing a correlational technique was employed in the study. The study's respondents were the selected 133 Barangay officials of Davao City. The statistical tools used in the study were Mean, Pearson r, and Regression analysis. A stratified sampling technique was used to identify the respondents. Results reveal that the level of public leadership behavior and barangay officials' involvement in the workplace were high. Similarly, the data illustrate a significant relationship between the public leadership behavior and the workplace commitment of barangay officials and that the public leadership behavior influenced the workplace commitment of barangay officials. Thus, the domains of public leadership behavior, accountability leadership, and network governance leadership significantly influenced the workplace commitment of barangay officials. When regressed, it was found that accountability leadership is the best predictor of workplace commitment. Key Words: public leadership behavior, workplace commitment, barangay officials, Philippines
