Professionalism and work performance of commissioned officers : The mediating role of work values
Abstract
The focus of this research was to measure the professionalism and work performance of the commissioned officer and describe the mediating role of work values in the significance of the variables. The study was conducted using a nonexperimental quantitative research methodology employing the descriptivecorrelational approach using Mean, Pearson r, Regression, and Sobel z-test as statistical tools. Mediation analysis was also used as an approach in data analysis. This research used a mediation model to find and explain the mechanism or process underlying an observed connection between the independent variable, professionalism, and the dependent variable, work performance, by introducing a third explanatory variable, known as a mediator variable which is work values. The questionnaires utilized in the research were contextualized based on the needs of the current study. The sample size was obtained using stratified random sampling approach, with 300 police noncommissioned officers serving as respondents. The study found a substantial association between professionalism and work performance. Likewise, work values also show a significant role. It was also revealed that there is a mediating effect of work values among police commissioned officers on the relationship between professionalism and work performance; partial mediation occurred in this study.
