On becoming a Law Enforcer: insights of criminology students on proper police behavior

This study utilized qualitative approach particularly in phenomenological study, in which it gathers deep information and perceptions from the selected respondents of this study. In distinguishing the participants, the researchers used purposive sampling method to gather data from the participants. One of the aims of this study is to identify the behavior of the police which are deemed as proper to the public. The result of the analysis conducted during interview revealed the behaviors which the participants viewed as negative such Police Corruption and other Anomalies, Killing of Innocent, and Police Brutality and Illegal Arrest. This study also aims to give suggestion on changing the perceptions of the public towards the police such setting good example, be hardworking and trusting, and Strengthening of Selection Process. These perceptions are affected by the portrayal of the police from the different media platforms.
