Distance education learning as the new learning modality amidst COVID-19 pandemic: in the lens of criminology students

The main purpose of this phenomenological study was to know and understand the experiences of criminology students during distance education as their new learning modality amidst COVID-19 Pandemic. The participants are the Criminology students from UM Tagum College. The study employed the qualitative method using the phenomenological approach. An interview guide was used in the in-depth-interview as well as in the focus group discussion. The data shows the gathered themes are the unstable internet connection, flexible time to learn, learning platform is not conducive, good experiences in learning and self-discipline. They cope up the new learning modality through students releasing stress, adapting the new learning modality, to study in advance and preparedness in learning. And their significant insights are the health-safety of the students, continuously learning, toughness of new learning modality and usage of internet connection. This study is for that criminology for them to be strong and ready to face any challenges in life.
