Abstract
This is a qualitative case study which sought to identify the multiple roles ofa phenomenal woman assumed in a household, the challenges she experienced in marriage and motherhood, her coping strategies in raising her children and in saving herself from domestic violence, and her insights about her life experiences. Through purposive sampling, the participant was identified in order to fit the characteristics of a phenomenal woman – someone who has experienced different challenges caused by domestic violence from an intimate partner and was able to successfully overcome the horrendous situation. Different themes were generated through thematic analysis. The role of a phenomenal woman is to guide and provide for her family. Despite the challenges she experienced from her marriage, the physical abuse, financial instability, emotional imbalance, and social detachment, she was able to survive all of these because of her self-sacrifice and tolerance, openness, decisiveness, seeking for assistance, faith, and goal-orientedness. Furthermore, as a phenomenal woman she would like to share her insights from her life experiences.
