A degradation in the area's value as a travel destination and losses in social significance could severely impact the local economy over the long run if the quality of the coastal infrastructure deteriorates. Poor design can drastically impair a building's functionality and, in some cases, can significantly limit its usable lifespan. Participant and perception surveys have become widely used to evaluate the quality of beaches for recreational reasons. It is vital to comprehend how the general public views and responds
to effectively identify the areas of concern. Although people may have a variety of different and inconsistent points of view, it may be challenging to evaluate user perspectives in this case. Therefore, this research aims to investigate the relationship between the design quality and users' perspective of the coastal establishments in barangay Matina Aplaya, Davao City. This study used a quantitative approach to collect the necessary measurable data and information for this evaluation. It would utilize
a correlational research design to evaluate the relationship between the two variables: the establishment's design quality and user perspective. The researcher would randomly select a subset of participants using simple random sampling. Spearman rank correlation revealed a significant correlation between the two variables. The result shows a positive relationship, rejecting the null hypothesis of no significant relationship. Therefore, the coastal establishments in barangay Matina Aplaya, Davao City, will still need an improvement in the design quality of their facilities to have a much better outcome on the hospitality industry and impact not just people but also the environment.
