Abstract
The world's population is rapidly rising, and people are moving from rural to urban areas. Vertical Housing is considered the most practical option as the world's population continuously escalates at an alarming rate, the land becomes increasingly limited, and housing demand becomes a huge concern. This research explores the perceptions and preferences of Young Adults living in Davao City. The purpose of the study is to learn about young adults' perceptions and preferences and the factors that influence them when it comes to home buying. This study aims to gain strategies that will lead the research to design a futuristic vertical housing community as a long-term solution to the current problem. In order to respond to the research question, the thesis applied a quantitative approach and used descriptive and inferential analysis to analyze the data. A total of 385 young adults ages 18-30 years old reside in Davao City. The result shows that young adults are particularly concerned about the housing units' access to public transport and property orientation. They value unpopulated environments in their living conditions and food and grocery stores. The study also found that location and accessibility, followed by property and building attributes, are the most critical factors in determining a young adult's preference. As a result, the perceptions and importance of this study will contribute to designing a vertical housing, community and a better understanding of homebuyer purchase decision making.
