Abstract
Matina Pangi is a barangay part of Talomo 1st District, Davao City, known to suffer several flooding disasters. This study works on the flood risk simulation along the Matina Pangi River. It generates a flood hazard map using ArcGIS and HEC-RAS software to propose an evacuation strategy. ArcGIS software generated a flood susceptibility map (FSM), and HECRAS simulation software was used to visualize the river overflow along Matina Pangi. The research specifies only the locality of Matina Pangi km.5 up to km.8, Davao City. Digital elevation model (DEM) and rainfall data obtained from government agencies were processed in ArcGIS to generate maps such as elevation, rainfall, watershed delineation, Distance to the road, Distance to the river, Slope, and land use and land cover (LULC). These maps are processed again in ArcGIS to generate an FSM. Researchers used this map as an input in HEC-RAS for flood simulation and analysis of river overflow. The researchers use the generated FSM and the river's overflow analysis as a basis for proposing the evacuation site, evacuation route, and safety evacuation procedure.
