Abstract
The inadequate and poorly developed water resource infrastructure in rural areas of Mindanao has been a long-standing issue, resulting in an unsafe and unreliable water supply that has negatively impacted the daily lives and productivity of the people living in these areas. One instance is Barangay Anibongan in Carmen, Davao del Norte, where the shortage and inaccessibility of water has been a significant problem. A study conducted to design a level III water facility to address this issue. The Project Development Management Unit of the Department of the Interior and Local Government collaborated with the researchers to validate the demographic profile, route profile elevation, and tank location for the pipeline’s key areas to ensure the study’s feasibility. The study employed data from the Environmental Protection Agency Network Evaluation Tool for hydraulic analysis, Structural Analysis and Design Pro V8i, and Computer-Aided Design software for detailed engineering design of the water facility. The collaboration resulted in designing an economic level III water facility that will cater to the water demand of 621 households. The water facility will improve the daily living conditions of the community by distributing water from the source to the water tank, service connection, and household beneficiaries. However, conserving and maintaining the water facility is essential to ensure its long-term usefulness.
