This research aimed to identify the effect of using Mother tongue-based instruction in teaching four mathematical operations (addition, subtraction, multiplication, and division) of grade 3 students' in Mambago-B Elementary School, Babak, District, Island Garden City of Samal. This study is significant to the school, teachers, students and future researchers. The study was mainly utilizing a quantitative research method which participated of two groups: the experimental and the controlled groups' with the cooperation of 30 respondents'' in each group. As we go on along with the research, it shows that there is significant difference between the controlled and experimental group'. thus, the researchers' took for an answer that the students learned easily if they were already mastered their first language (L1) or the mother tongue before transferring to the other language than using second language (L2) directly. Therefor, we the researchers' believe that this study was effective and would be the most appropriate and suitable to use in teaching-learning process especially to the primary levels.
