Abstract
The study entitled Library service and students' academic performance was conducted to determine the impact of library services offered towards the academic performance of the students in UM Peñaplata College. A descriptive correlation method was used in this study. One hundred sixty-nine (169) students were chosen to become the respondents which represented the whole population in UM Peñaplata College. The statistical tools used in this study were the weighted average mean, Analysis of Variance (ANOVA), T-test and Pearson-r. Based on the data gathered, the researchers found out that, first; the level of library services in UM Peñaplata College is above the expected level. It denotes that the library services truly met the needs of the students. Second, the level of students' academic performance in terms of grades is at the very satisfactory level. Thus, students in UM Peñaplata College did a very satisfactory accomplishment in terms of their academic performance. Third, both levels of library services when students were categorized according to gender and to age had no significant difference as perceived by the students in terms of the said indicators. But there was a significant difference in the level of library services when student were categorized according to course. Therefore, the levels of library services vary depending on the course of the student. Fourth, there was no significant difference in the level of academic performance of students when grouped according to gender and age. Both results entail that in terms of gender and age, students do not differ in the level of academic performance. However, there was significant difference in the level of academic performance of students when categorized according to course. The result signifies that students in UM Peñaplata College differ from their course in terms of their grades. And fifth, there is no significant relationship between library services offered and students' academic performance in UM Peñaplata College.
