Parental involvement and academic performance in English among selected grade 11 students of UMPC

This study aimed to determine the relationship between parental involvement and academic performance among selected grade 11 students in UM Panabo College. The independent variable of the study was Parental Involvement. The indicators were home factor and school factor. On the other hand, the dependent variable of this study was grades, the researchers used the descriptive correlation method and convenient sampling in determining the numbers of respondents, and the statistical used was Mean and Person r. The result of computation using the r v-value 0.12 associated with significant value -171.8 of p-value 0.00 which is less than the alpha of 0.05. Moreover there is significant relationship, between parental involvement and academic performance among selected grade 11 students of UM Panabo College. It implies that the parental involvement in terms of home and school as an impact on academic performance. In other words, parental involvement could affect the academic performance of the students.
