Mathematical practices and students' responsibility in learning mathematics

In a modern world, math is all around us, it is a part of our everyday life. Students these days tend to escape from their responsibility especially when it comes in Mathematics subject. But many researchers proved that mathematical practices contribute to the students to be responsible in learning.
This paper aimed to explore if mathematical practices positively affects the students responsibility in learning mathematics. The study was conducted to determine whether or not there is a relationship between mathematical practices and students’ responsibility in learning mathematics.
To achieve the objectives of this research, a quantitative approach was used, with a standardized questionnaire as the research tool. Seventy-four questionnaires were administered by senior high school students through random sampling by the used of raosoft to garner the appropriate result. The data were subjected with Pearson Product Moment Correlation to determine the significant correlation of two variables. It was found out that the level of mathematical practices has a significant relationship with the students’ responsibility in learning mathematics.
