Abstract
The study entitled the Effectiveness of Using IPA Symbols on Pronunciation Skills of Grade 12 Students in UM Peñaplata College aims to determine the effectiveness of using IPA symbols on the pronunciation skills of grade 12 students in UMPC. The study used an experimental method as a research design. The essential data were gathered from sample size of 24 respondents with the aid of the research-made validated IPA questionnaire. Data were analyzed and interpreted using weighted mean, t-test, and paired t-test as statistical tools. It was found that the grade 12 students achieved and met the requirements in IPA symbols. The study proved a significant difference in pronunciation skills before and after using IPA symbols. It was further stated through the statistical analysis that the use of IPA symbols improved their pronunciation. Hence, a similar study needs to be conducted with a broader knowledge about using IPA symbols in pronunciation skills. Moreover, teachers must look after their student's pronunciation by providing development activities to treat the appropriate pronunciation.
