Academic stress and behavioral performance of elementary program students in UM Panabo

This study presents the extent of academic stress and the level of behavioral performance of students and the significant relationship between academic stress and the behavioral performance of students in UM Panabo College. The dependent variable for this study was academic stress and the independent variable for this study was behavioral performance thus, it employed qualitative method of research. The participants of this study were 83 students under BEED program in UM Panabo College. Data were collected via survey approach and utilized the mean, standard deviation, Pearson-r, and R-value in data analysis. The survey is conducted through google forms and is consisted of 20 potential questions about the extent of academic stress and 20 questions about the level of behavioral performance. The results show that the extent of academic stress and behavioral performance of students has a descriptive equivalent of high. The result shows that worrying about examinations appeared to be the most stressful factor for students and the feeling of tension, worry, anxiety, and fear in class emerged as the greatest factor affecting students’ behavioral performance. This study also shows the result of the significant relationship between the two variables for this study. The findings from this study may be useful for further research on how these potential sources of academic stress influence the behavioral performance of students and to further evaluate the significant relationship between the two variables.
