Abstract
This study aims to unravel the experiences of the "Ukay-ukay" owners financial struggles and challenges. The participants were only five (5) in-depth interviews (IDI), regardless of age and gender (Dworkin 2012, p.1). This study used the qualitative phenomenological research approach to acquire significant insights into how "Ukay-ukay" owners unravel their financial struggles and challenges. Further, the study results show that "Ukay-ukay" owners experienced poor sales, competitive advantage (competitors), shoppers preferences, and shopping behavior. Hence, "Ukay-ukay" owners manage their financial struggles and challenges through financial strategies, competitive adaptation, sellers preferences, and positive attitude towards customers. Further, the Ukay-ukay owners generated perception from the results are that insights and experiences of an "Ukay-ukay" owner, pieces of advice to the future "Ukay-ukay" dealers, and customer's consistency in supporting "Ukay-ukay" business. These findings may help the "Ukay-ukay" owners, customers, students, and future researchers as a basis to provide solutions and recommendations on how to deal with financial struggles and challenges as a "Ukay-ukay" dealers.
