Challenges of handling personnel in the lens of sole proprietors

This study examines sole proprietors' challenges in handling personnel. It aims to provide insights into the difficulties encountered and the strategies to address them. Utilizing a phenomenological approach, in-depth interviews were conducted with ten sole proprietors overseeing two or more employees in Panabo City. It was found out the key challenges in personnel management include Adjustment to Individuals’ Behavior, Building Harmonious Relationships, Absenteeism and Tardiness in the Workplace, and Personal Engagement to Employees. The current strategies of the proprietors include the following: Giving Compensation and Benefits, Establishing Rules, Fostering a Culture of Awareness and Transparency, Embracing Serenity and Patience through Prayer, and Respect in the Workplace. Through careful examination, inadequate employee training emerged as a primary concern. Therefore, it is recommended that comprehensive onboarding orientations be implemented for all new employees.
