Abstract
The story of Grimm’s Fairytale is well known to the world of literature and many other authors want to copy their works and alter some lines or scenes in order to fit with the story to the culture of the people and to the society. This study includes the 3 well known works of Grimm brothers which is the Hansel and Gretel, Red Riding Hood, and the Cinderella. The result study shows that there is a mode of relations (Borrowing, Intersection, Fidelity of Transformation) from the theory of adaptation involve in the stories from the original text and the movie adaptation. Also, the movie adaptation is different in terms of entertaining the audience, the effects to the participants, all ages are able to watch the movie, and the alteration of the story which shows a story that is free from violence. Reader-Response theory was used and its principles helped to structure questions for the interviews, and to analyze data.
