English proficiency for a better life

This study attempted to determine the stories of English proficient individuals. The informants were all professionals with varying generations. The case study research was a qualitative approach using two methods: The Key Informant In-Depth Interview in which the researchers explored a real-life, multiple cases overtime and cross-case analysis of the data from the different cases. The In-Depth interview consisted of 4 informants, all of varying gender and ages. There were 7 themes generated based on the results of cross-case analysis: English is the main medium of communication, English proficiency supports healthy hobbies, English proficiency induces advantageous outcomes, English proficiency allows for coping with stress, extensive reading and studying, English proficiency led to widened perspectives, English proficiency builds competence and confidence. The researchers recommended the English learners and educators to be aware of this work that delved into the life benefits of being English proficient.
