Identity versus role confusion: a road to identity development

The purpose of this qualitative phenomenological study was to know adolescents experiences during teenage life, their ways of coping pressures and the learning they gained, that help them to be who they are now, how it affects them and how those experiences mold teenager‘s identity as well as how role confusion influence the progress of adolescence to adulthood which social and environment and the people that surrounds to them which contributes that changes to their life. There were fourteen participants in our study, seven in in-depth interviews and seven for the focus group discussion where teenagers share their experiences in developing their identity, how they cope up with the challenges and the changes in to their self, as well as the learning they gained from those experiences that is useful to their journey in life. The purposive sampling was used to determine our participants who are participated in this study. We have types of participants in this study and this are the following: out of school, affiliates, broken family, introvert, extrovert, in school, and attachment issues with parents and this study presents the collection of data and information about teenagers who are in search for identity development as well as the confusion they experience during this time. This study revealed the challenges they face while adolescent search for identity. All the participants have marked difference and uniqueness during the study.
