THE LIVED EXPERIENCE OF TRICYCLE DRIVERS IN THEIR FINANCIAL MANAGEMENT : A PHENOMENOLOGICAL STUDY

Abstract

This qualitative phenomenological study examined the experiences of tricycle drivers in their financial management. Using a descriptive phenomenological approach, the study aimed to uncover the experiences of tricycle drivers in their financial management. The inclusion and exclusion criteria were established to ensure a consistent and reliable selection of the study population. Utilizing the criteria, 12 participants were selected from the Island Garden City of Samal. In this study, inductive analysis was employed in the qualitative analysis process. The study revealed five themes under positive experiences, six under negative experiences (RQ1), three under RQ2, and two under RQ3. The study's findings highlight the need for education and support for financial management among tricycle drivers, including financial aid and supportive policies. Additionally, it suggests exploring potential opportunities for tricycle drivers to increase their earnings through a tricycle booking application. Further research is needed to examine the impact of technology on their finances.
