MATERIALISM AND SAVING HABITS OF THE RESIDENTS IN BARANGAY MIRANDA, BABAK ISLAND GARDEN CITY OF SAMAL
Abstract
Residents have an essential role in our society today. Nowadays, residents are concerned about material possessions; however, most of them prefer to save most of the times. The study assessed the level of materialism and saving habits of the residents in Barangay Miranda, Babak Island Garden City of Samal. The statistical tool employed was descriptive statistics specifically mean through the use of SPSS software. The data was gathered through the use of survey questionnaires distributed to 363 residents in barangay Miranda. Results showed that both the level of materialism and the level of saving habits generated high mean scores. Moreover, in materialism indicators, centrality got the highest mean rating, while happiness had the lowest mean. Furthermore, in saving habits indicators, discretionary savings got the highest mean rating, while non-savings had the lowest mean.
