dc.description.abstractRelationship between cooperative learning activities and social development of second year BSED - English major students in UM Tagum College. Sub-problems: 1. What is the level of cooperative learning activities of second year BSED English major students in UM Tagum College in terms of: 1.1 formal learning group; V Vi 1.2 informal learning group; and 1.3 cooperative base group? 2. What is the level of social development of second year BSED English major students of UM Tagum College in terms of: 2.1 home environment; 2.2 participation in school organization; and 2.3 school programs? 3. Is there a significant difference on the level of cooperative learning activities of second year BSED English major students of UM Tagum College when grouped according to gender? 4. Is there a significant difference on the level of social development of second year BSED English major students of UM Tagum College according to gender? 5. is there significant relationship between cooperative learning activities and social development of second year BSED English major students of UM Tagum College? 1. There is no significant difference on the level of cooperative learning activities of second year BSED English major students of UM Tagum College according to gender? 2. There is no significant difference on the level of social development of second year BSED English major students of UM Tagum College when grouped according to gender? VII 3. There is no significant relationship between cooperative learning activities and social development of second year BSED English major students of UM Tagum College. Respondents: Second year BSED English major students of UM Tagum College, Areflano, Tagum City. Sampling Technique: Universal Sampling of second year BSED English major students. Statistical Treatment The result of the gathered data indicated the following findings: 1. The cooperative learning activities of 2nd yr. BSED English major students obtained the following overall means; 2.77in terms of formal learning group, 3.00 in informal learning group, and 2.86 in cooperative base group. The overall extent of cooperative learning activities of students is 2.87 categorized as moderate. 2. The extent of social development of 2' yr. BSED Englishmajor students in UMTagum College is 2.61 in home environment, 3.10 in participation in social organization and 2.99 in school programs. The overall mean of the extent of social development 2ndyear BSED English Major Students is 2.90, categorized as moderate. 3. There is no significant difference of the level of cooperative learning activities of 2nd yr. BSED English Major Students. of UM T agum College when the students are grouped according to gender, since the computed t-value of 1.61 is lesser that the tabular value of 2.08, thereby accepting the null hypothesis. VIII 4. There is a significant difference of the level of social development of 2' yr. BSED English major students of UM Tagum College when the students are grouped according to gender, since the computed t-value of 2.12 is greater than the tabular value of 2.08, thereby the null hypothesis is rejected. On the bases of the foregoing findings of the study, the following conclusions were drawn; 1. The level of cooperative learning activities is moderate. 2. The level of social development is moderate. 3. There is no significant difference on the level of cooperative learning activities of 2nd yr. BSED English major students when the students are grouped according to gender. 4. There is a significant difference on the extent of social development of 2ndyr. BSED English major students of UMTC. I4i'iii1 i.i141t. fl-tT After a careful review of the findings and conclusions of the study, the researcher recommends that: 1. Increase in the extent of cooperative learning activities -of students in terms of formal learning groups, informal learning group and cooperative based groups should be taken in consideration and be given appropriate attention among the academic council of UM Tagum College like conducting several seminar and trainings and lecture sessions for teachers in order to update their knowledge and understanding of how cooperative learning activities be effectively administer in the classroom. 2. Students must be engaged themselves to different activities that will help them develop their social aspects. In their individual homes, students must be able to grasp and inculcate values shared among members of the family. They must involve themselves to be active participants of different social organizations. In addition, they must practice within themselves to be well-engaged in various school programs like attending or participating in a certain programs. 3. There is a need to conduct further study regarding the matter.en_US
