FACTORS INFLUENCING SEXUAL HARASSMENT AS PERCEIVED BY CRIMINOLOGY STUDENTS

Abstract

This study was conducted to determine the level of factors influencing sexual harassment as perceived by Criminology students in UM Digos College. The researchers used descriptive survey method of research and administered questions to the 220 Criminology students of UM Digos College. Result revealed that among the three factors influencing sexual harassment, gender harassment is oftentimes practiced, and appears to be the most common form of sexual harassment. Moreover, this study revealed that there is no significant difference between the factors influencing sexual harassment as perceived by the participants according to sex, which implies that every male and female can be sexually harassed. Therefore, this study recommends that UM Digos College should pay increased attention to and enact policies that cover gender harassment as means of addressing the most common form of sexual harassment and preventing other types of sexually harassing behavior.
