Perception on the impact of police onmipresence in Barangay Aplaya, Digos City: A qualitative inquiry

Abstract
The study was conducted to determine the perception of the residents of Barangay Aplaya, Digos City on the impact of police omnipresence. Qualitative-phenomenological approach was employed and the researchers made used of validated researchers-made interview guide to 26 selected participants from 13 Purok of Barangay Aplaya, Digos City. Results revealed that high police omnipresence is perceived and observed in Barangay Aplaya. Moreover, the performance of police officers is categorically perceived as follows: (1) effective and efficient; (2) strict and disciplined, and (3) alert and responsive. Furthermore, the results showed that the perceived impact of police omnipresence includes: (1) secured and safer community; (2) heightened awareness and discipline in the community and (3) drug-free, peaceful and lesser crimes. Because of the successful effective police performance. Furthermore, this research recommends to conduct the study in the whole city to further validate the results and findings of this study as it is very helpful in maintain positive police and public relation with regards to their high omnipresence.
