STORIES OF PUBLIC DISTURBANCE OF VIDEOKE BARS: POINTS-OF-VIEW OF CITIZENS

Abstract

This study intends to determine the effects and causes of these public disturbances in Barangay Zone III, Digos City. Our research tends to find out what are the cause and effects in the operation of videoke bars according to our respondents. A survey was conducted through verbatim with those families who lived near at the videoke bars. Eight (8) families were chosen as respondent. Based on results, it was found out that those families were really disturbed during the operation of videoke machine near at their respective residence. Most of them said that their children cannot focus in studying because of the loud sound coming from the videoke machine they also suffer headache which was the reason of their absences in work. It also gave stress to them because they cannot sleep well and there were some owners of the bars who did not follow curfew hours. Furthermore, the researchers are exerting efforts for this study to finish in order to help the society not only in Digos City but to those people who would read our research. The videoke owners should follow the Ordinance No. 12-2011-663 in Digos City which stated that a commercial videoke machine must be inside an establishment to mitigate the effect of the sound. Videoke bars are not allowed to operate 10:00 PM above. We hope that the person in authority will do their job in implementing this ordinance and to those owners they should be responsible in their operation.
