PERCEIVED FACTORS OF EARLY ENGAGEMENT IN CIGARETTE SMOKING AMONG ADOLESCENTS IN BRGY. ASTORGA. STA. CRUZ DAVAO DEL SUR

Abstract

This quantitative - descriptive study aimed to determine the perceived factor of early engagement in cigarette smoking among adolescence in Brgy. Astorga Davao del Sur. The sample of the study was the adolescent of Barangay Astorga, Santa Cruz, Davao del Sur. KMO and Bartlett'swere used to analyzed the data gathered from the selected adolescent of Barangay Astorga, Santa Cruz, Davao del Sur. Results revealed tha there are 258 male adolescents in Barangay Astorga, Sta. Cruz, accounting for 86%, while the remaining of the respondent adolescents (n=42) are females, accounting for 14%. These allude that early engagement in cigarette smoking is predominant among the males or the young men in Barangay Astorga, Sta. Cruz. It is also found that the Test of Sphericity relates to the significance of the study and thereby shows, the validity and suitability of the responses collected to the problem addressed through the study. As display, the whole mean of environmental factors felt by the adolescents is 5.89, with a detailed elucidation of high. It means that adolescents highly consider the ecological factors of early engagement of cigarette smoking in Barangay Astorga, Sta. Cruz. Moreover, it is manifested that there are significant differences on the perceived factors of early engagement in cigarette smoking in Barangay Astorga, Santa Cruz., Davao del Sur,
