Abstract
This study determined the level of cultural competence of Social Workers 1n Davao del Norte as basis for a professional enhancement program. A descriptive survey technique was utilized to depict the dimension of cultural competence of the 100 social workers in Davao del Norte. Social competence was broken down by utilizing a modified questionnaire based on the Standards and Indicators for Cultural Competence in Social Work Practice by the National Association of Social Workers. The accompanying measurable tests were utilized for information treatment: mean, independent examples t-test, and one-way analysis of variance and were tried at .OS level of significance. This research analyzed social, political, and scholarly impacts on the improvement and conceptualization of cultural competence as it shows up in the National Association of Social Workers. The level of cultural competence of the social workers is rated very high, which means that it is manifested all the time in the following areas: ethics and values, self-awareness, cross-cultural knowledge, cross-cultural skills, service delivery, empowerment and advocacy, diverse workforce, professional education, language and communication, and leadership to advance cultural competence. There is no significant difference on the level of cultural competence when analyzed by age, sex, length of service, and employment status. This means that cultural competence does not vary across the aforementioned profiles. Keywords: social work, cultural competence, social workers, professional enhancement program, Philippines
