Attention and listening skills of grade 10 students of public secondary schools
Abstract
This study aimed to determine which domain in attention skills best influences the listening skills of Grade 10 students of Governor Generoso Secondary Schools, Davao Oriental, Philippines. The study employed the quantitative, non-experimental research design using correlational technique. The respondents were the 221 Grade 10 students who were chosen using the random sampling procedure. Mean, Pearson r, and Regression analysis were the statistical tools used in this study. Moreover, adapted survey questionnaires were used for attention and listening skills of students. The result showed that the level of attention skills of students was moderate and their level of listening skills was also moderate. Further, data showed that there was a significant relationship between the attention and listening skills of students and that the overall attention skills significantly influenced their listening skills. The domain that best influences listening skills is internal factors.
