Traffic management in Davao City and behavior of pedestrians

Abstract
Managing traffic system is one of the crucial tasks of the government as it involves the proper planning and control of transport services due to the growth concentration of population, rapid urbanization and economic activities, and the safety of pedestrians on roadways. This study determined which domain in traffic management best influences the behavior of pedestrians. The findings disclosed that there is no specific domain in traffic management that best influences the behavior of pedestrian. Likewise, there is no significant relationship between traffic management and the behavior of pedestrians. The researcher used the non experimental research design and the utilization of survey questionnaires, secondary data, informed interview, and the application of data analysis technique and interpretation. There were 300 respondents selected, irrespective of their gender, who have the capacity to answer the survey questions. The overall level of performance of traffic management in Davao City disclosed a high rating, while the overall level of behavior of pedestrians registered a low classification rating. Premises considered, the level of performance of traffic management in Davao City manifested a high degree of competency in executing their duties and responsibilities, while the behavior of pedestrians towards traffic management reflected a resentful or uncooperative stance as the study disclosed that some of the violations of traffic laws were intentionally done.
