Traffic accidents in Davao City (2004-2011) : an intervention program for the deterrence of driver's error
Abstract
The purpose of this study was to determine the volume and occurrence of
traffic accidents in Davao City for the period 2004 to 2011. By retrieving hard
data from DPWH-TARAS, it was found out in the study that human error has the
highest volume of road accidents in terms of causes of accidents. Hence, an
intervention program was designed to focus on the prevention of this growing
phenomenon. The result suggests that Traffic Law Enforcers (i.e. LTO, DCPO,
TMG, and TMC) must strengthen the traffic safety management programs,
conduct traffic education, and enforce strictly the traffic rules and regulations.
Moreover, the Department of Education (DepEd) and Commission on Higher
Education (CHED) should make use of this thesis in their campaign on traffic
safety management program.
