School climate and teachers commitment in public elementary schools
Abstract
The study aimed to determine which domain in school climate best influences the
teacher commitment of public elementary school teachers. The quantitative non experimental design applying correlational technique was used in the study. It
was conducted in the 27 Public Elementary Schools of New Corella District with
277 teachers in the school year 2016-2017 as the respondents identified using
universal sampling. The statistical tools used in the study were Mean, Pearson r
and Regression. The study revealed a very high level of school climate and a
high level of teacher commitment. The study also found out that there was a
significant relationship between school climate and teacher commitment. Among
the domains of the school climate, learning/cognitive environment and physical
environment gave significant influences on the teacher commitment of public
elementary school teachers.
