Physical fitness and sports anxiety of public secondary students
Abstract
This study aimed to determine which domain of physical fitness best influenced the
sports anxiety of selected public secondary schools of District 2 in Davao City
during the first quarter of 2017. A total of 190 students from Dr. S. Dakudao Sr.
National High School, Emilio Ramos National High School, F. Bustamante
National High School and F. Bangoy National High School were identified through
purposive sampling. The study utilized a quantitative non-experimental method of
research using correlational technique. The mean, Pearson r and regression
analysis were used as statistical tools of the study. Results revealed a high level of
physical fitness among public secondary students in Davao City. On the other
hand, students also demonstrated high level of sports anxiety. Further, the results
showed a significant relationship between physical fitness and sports anxiety.
Balance was the domain which best influences public secondary students’ sports
anxiety.
