Management style of middle managers and quality of work life of government employees
Abstract
This study was conducted to determine which domain of management styles of
middle managers best influences the quality of work life of government
employees. The researcher employed quantitative research design utilizing
descriptive technique and an adapted survey questionnaire contextualized to the
local setting. The respondents of this study were 300 regular employees who are
employed in the different departments of the City Hall Office of Davao City.
Findings revealed that that the management styles of middle managers have
significant bearing to the quality of work life of government employees. The
domains of management styles such as autocratic, democratic and paternalistic
significantly influenced the quality of work life of government employees in their
singular capacities. The study revealed that paternalistic management style is the
domain that best influences quality of work life.
