The present study is a content analysis of the institutional researches from 1999- 2014. Data from 219 institutional research output were analyzed to assess the profile of UM-IR in terms of authorship, citation utilization, number of journal publications, period of study, and college program; to conceptualize UM-IR in terms of comparative research methodology, objectives, findings, recommendations, types of materials used, reference citation style, and library utilization; and to conduct knowledge mapping of UM-IR in terms of subject content and research agenda. It was revealed that most of the IRs were written in single authorship; majority of IR were not cited; not published in the printed school publications though some of IR were accessible through online in the local and international setting. An increase decrease-increase pattern was noted in terms of productivity with the College of Arts and Sciences on the lead. Results showed that majority of the methods used in the conceptualization of the UM-IRs is the quantitative research design with the descriptive survey as the most predominant. In conceptualizing the research objective, the interpretative aim was the most used; the descriptive was the most utilized comparative findings; explanatory recommendations got the highest frequency; the use of internet resources/materials, books and periodicals got the highest percentage in terms of types of library materials used; and the American Psychological Association format (APA) was the most preferred citation style. Under the knowledge mapping category, when classified according to subject content, the social science class got a wide margin as the most used and studied domain. It appeared that the most widely studied domain by the university faculty and iv employees are the sustainable institution followed by the sustainable gain in university. This implied that there is a need to intensify the excellent research culture among the faculty and employees to help the students develop research skills as one of the thrusts of the institution for quality education and other endeavors for the 21st century.
