It is a dilemma of the academic institution if they could deliver their
services at a rate where students see them as satisfactory. This descriptive
study evaluates the students' experiences both inside and outside the
classroom, determine how satisfied they are with their stay in the college, and
develop an action plan to address the students' concerns. Specifically, it
determined the reasons presented by the graduating students as to why they
chose their course/program; the level of respondents' satisfaction with their
learning experiences while enrolled in their program; their perceptions on how
they were able to gain the competencies needed while enrolled in the
program; and their level of satisfaction on the student support services. This
study involved 304 graduating students randomly selected from the different
departments of the institution, where their responses were gathered through
an adopted questionnaire deployed by the Academic and Planning Services.
Results convey that students are most influenced by family, their passion for
the profession, and their employment prospects in choosing their course and
major. Simultaneously, their learning experiences are very satisfactory in
both general education and major subjects. They believed that these courses
significantly helped them to become competent, proactive, and well-rounded
individuals.
Further, students are very satisfied with their services from the
Cashier's Office, Student Accounts Office, and the Guidance and Testing
Center. Moreover, most of the respondents would like to enroll in graduate
school after graduation, either full-time or part-time. Some would like to
enhance their technical skills by enrolling in short-term courses. Lastly, they
would highly recommend UM to their friends and relatives. Generally, this
study recommends a review of the courses in the prospectus is needed.
Additionally, there shall be provision for scaffolds in science and
mathematics, exercising leadership, and conducting relevant research. An
improvement is also needed in the quality of teaching of those handling
GenEd subjects and the services of the speech and science laboratories.
More so, there is a need to upgrade laboratories and classrooms.
