Tracing the employability of the University of Mindanao electronics engineering graduates of 2005-2012

This graduate tracer study was conducted to determine the employability of the
Electronic Engineering graduates of the University of Mindanao. The study used a
structured questionnaire to gather data on employment and career movement of the
graduates. A total of 233 UM Electronics Engineering graduates from SY 2004-2005 to
SY 2011-2012 and out of them 48 were able to respond to the study. Findings revealed
that of the 233 UM Electronics Engineering graduates employability posted 97.92% with
65.96% of them holding regular or permanent positions. Among the employed, 76.60%
of them work on the professional, technical or supervisory level. The 23.40% of the
respondents work in the company with has to do with manufacturing, 19.15% in
construction and 17.02% in information and communication. Some 23.40% of the
respondents work abroad which is in realization of their reason for taking the course in
college to work abroad. For 74.47% of them, their first job is not their current job for
reasons of salaries and benefits. The remaining 25.53%, whose first job is their current
job, 83.33% of them specified that their job is related to the course they took in college.
