Tracer study of University of Mindanao Bachelor of Science in Criminology graduates from school year 2001-2010
Abstract
This study sought to trace the graduates of Bachelor of Science in
Criminology of the University of Mindanao which was then used as basis for
curriculum enhancement. Descriptive-survey method of research was used
with 342 out of 3,857 graduates from School Year 2001-2010 as respondents.
The graduates were traced from the different regions in the country using the
purposive sampling technique. The findings revealed that in terms of personal
background, majority of the respondents are single; males; age group from 25-
30; graduated in the year 2010; from Region 11; originated from the province
of Davao del sur; and residing in rural areas. In terms of educational
background, the graduates indicates that majority did not obtain any post
graduate studies; passed the Licensure Examinations for Criminologists; and
strong passion for the profession as the reason for taking up Bachelor of
Science in Criminology. Likewise, most of the graduates undergone Police
Basic Recruit Training Course and pursues training for professional
development. Majority also are regularly or permanently employed; employed
in the Philippine National Police; stayed on the job because of salaries and
benefits; walk-in applicants; 1 to 6 months duration in finding job; rank or
clerical as job level; with monthly income ranging from P15, 000-20,000; and
indicated that their curriculum in college is relevant to their present job.
