Abstract
The study was conducted to look into the application of green hotel standards in selected hotels in Davao City. Descriptive survey method was used for the study. An adapted survey questionnaire was utilized as the research instrument. The respondents were 40 managers or supervisors from the housekeeping, front office, food and beverage, human resource and administration departments. The descriptive survey method was used in the study. Findings show that most of the hotels were active in green team organizations, implemented management system in performance of employees, function rooms, guest rooms. Public areas of the hotels were energy efficient in lighting and most of the meeting rooms and public bathrooms had occupancy sensors and timers. The hotels’ front office and conference rooms practiced recycling programs. To maintain air and water quality, most of the hotels used cleaners that were environmentally responsible and air fresheners with low volatile organic compound materials. Majority of the respondents suggested to guests the reuse of linens like towels and sheets. Office papers used in most hotels were made from paper products bleached without chlorine and hotels purchased products low in toxicity and selected service providers who used renewable energy.
