Abstract
This study examines the perceptions of high school students towards the integration of mother tongue in teaching Science. This includes the effect of mother tongue towards the academic performance, social interaction, and self expression of the sudents. The respondents are composed of 50 fourth year students. In choosing the reasearch respondents, random sampling isutilized. This study used quantitave descriptive research. The questionnaire used was self-made.Students perceive that they learn best when the teacher uses mother tongue in the discussion of Science. Moreover, the students perceive that they could easily work in group and could easily relay their ideas and thoughts using mother tongue during Science class.
