dc.description.abstract | This study was conducted to investigate difficulties encountered by Secondary
English Major students in analyzing literary pieces. The researchers employed
qualitative research method and an interview protocol was used as the data collection
instrument. The research informants were 5 (five) 3rd year Secondary English Major
students. Findings revealed that theory application and choice of words were the major
difficulties encounter by the informants in literary analysis. Moreover, literary theories
are seen as lens of critiquing a text and also as a source of information to extract the
ideas and submerged meaning of a particular literary piece. In connection with these
findings, it was found out that they really had encountered difficulties in literary
analysis as they were given a literary piece entitled “The Road Not Taken” by Robert
Frost as a test for them | en_US |
