dc.description.abstract | This Research Study entitled “Mismatch Expertise: Experiences and Strategies of English Major Teachers in the Island Garden City of Samal” was conducted to explore and determine the experiences and strategies of major English teachers in teaching mismatch of their expertise or field of specialization. This study utilized a qualitative descriptive design. The researcher gathers the data through an interview. The data came from six (6) from two (2) different schools, public and private institutions in the Island Garden City of Samal. Four (4) teachers from Nieves Villarica National High School and two (2) from Assumption Academy of Peñaplata Incorporated. They were asked thoroughly in their perception with validated questionnaires, and the data were analyzed and interpreted using thematic coding. The findings revealed that mismatch English Major teachers experienced struggles, difficulties, stress, uncomfortable, doubtful, etc. However, the participants also revealed their coping strategies with the said phenomenon, and these were through self-study, research and collegial support. Moreover, mismatch educators gained more skills in handling diverse students and knowledge in terms of terminologies, grammar, and technologies. The school administration, principal, teachers and future researchers may benefit from this study by having the initial idea about the said phenomenon since this study was relevant in the past, today, and in the future. | en_US |
