YEARS OF SERVICE AND TYPE OF SCHOOL: FACTORS AFFECTING IN TEACHING STATEGIES IN ELEMENTARY SCHOOL IN ISLANDGARDEN CITY OF SAMAL
Abstract
The thesis is entitled “Years of Service and Type of School: Factors affecting in Teaching Strategies” was concluded to determine Teaching Strategies of a Teachers in elementary of the Island Garden City of Samal. The two types of school which are public and private school is selected. The study was accomplished with the participation of five (5) teachers and twenty-five (25) students in Cogon Elementary School, Kinawitnon, IGaCoS of Institute Technology Inc., and Holy Name School who were considered as the respondents of the study. A descriptive quantitative type of research design was employed in this study. Data were analyzed and interpreted using the Average Weighted Mean, T-test, and Analysis of Variance (ANOVA) as statistical tools. The researcher’s questionnaire on teaching strategy of the teacher is adopted and modified from the study of IOWA STATE UNIVERSITY in evaluating the extent of teaching strategies of teacher in terms of years in service and type of school. In the questionnaire there are 20 teaching strategies which are lecture, group study, pictures etc., computer-assisted instruction, lecture discussion, oral presentation, observation, individualized instruction, exhibits, contests, distance programs, questioning, resource people, and computer software, using real objects, television, brainstorming, supervised experience, mentorship, and cooperative learning.
