This research entitled “THE RELATIONSHIP BETWEEN THE LEVEL OF SOCIAL MEDIA USAGE AND THE LEVEL OF ACADEMIC PERFORMANCE OF THE STUDENTS IN UM PEÑAPLATA COLLEGE GRADE 12 SECTION 2”was conducted to determine relationship between the social media usage and the academic performance of the students. It consist three (3) indicators: time spent, frequency and students grade point average. A descriptive corelational method was used in study. The indicators were used in order to get the result of the social media usage and academic performance of the students. The study reveals that the students in UM Peñaplata in terms of social media usage has an average of 4.43 which means they are always using social media, it also reveals that the academic performance of the students in UM Peñaplata College has an grade point average 85.64 which means that their academic performance is not affected even if they are always using social media ,lastly it reveals the overall value of social media usage and academic performance, for the r – value .019 , for the p – value .908. Among the measures, it shows that the grade 12 section 2 students in UM Peñaplata College are always using social media but even if they are always using social media their academic performance is not affected. Based on the findings of the study, the conclusion was drawn that relationship between social media usage and academic performance of the students in UM Peñaplata College grade 12 section 2 doesn’t have significant relationship.
