THE PERCEPTION OF PARENTS ON THE IMPLEMENTATION OF PRINTED MODULAR DISTANCE LEARNING
Abstract
This study entitled, “THE PERCEPTION OF PARENTS ON THE IMPLEMENTATION OF PRINTED MODULAR DISTANCE LEARNING”, aimed to determine the perception of the parents on the implementation of printed modular distance learning. This study used a qualitative design where 15 parents participated coming from Babak, Samal, and Kaputian District in three schools. Semi-structured Interview was used as research instruments in gathering the data. The researchers found out that most of the parents had trouble in guiding and facilitating their children using printed modules. However, parents still accepted the challenge and continued helping their children in their lessons. With the summarized study and implications, the following are recommended for future directions: Teachers may conduct weekly monitoring on the progress of the learners so that parents’ burden in facilitating their children will be lessened. Therefore, good rapport between teachers and the parents should be maintained effectively; Teacher’s monitoring must not end on checking reports. School principals or head administrators may manage to observe the relationship of the parents and teachers in modular distance learning modality. The researchers would also like to encourage them to provide learning materials that is contextualized for the parents to understand it so that they can help learn their children in the lessons. Future researchers may conduct similar study to provide educators, especially teachers with parents having difficulty in teaching their children at home. By doing so, the implementation printed modular distance learning in the new normal education would be understood and improved.
