dc.description.abstractThe main objective of the study was to explore and discover the significance of Bagobo – Tagabawa Tribe to Davao City Tourism. The main thrust of the study was to extract the significance of indigenous peoples, specifically Bagobo – Tagabaw tribe, which is one of the main contributors of tourism is related activities in Davao City. This study showed the balance between the community of indigenous individuals and the sustainability of tourism industry. The qualitative study design was utilized to explore the varying reactions and revelations of the respondents on their significance to Davao City tourism. The respondents expressed their ideas, observations and experiences of their tribal community. Their main observation with regards to cultural impact brought to them by participating cultural shows in big events in Davao City was the boosting of self-confidence from those sociocultural activities. Economically, tourism gave them opportunities to cultivate, improve and promote their ability to provide the tourism market with quality products which they consider as their main source of income. In environmental impact, the Bagobo – Tagabawa respondents make use of their resources, protects their community by the support of the government from the rebels and advocate projects and activities whose primary agenda is the protection of the environment. The respondents believed that they can contribute to Davao City tourism as well as Davao City tourism can contribute to them as well.
