At the beginning of the study, the main objective was clearly declared; it was
to explore the longevity of selected Chinese restaurants in Davao City, which
was a qualitative case study. The main purpose is to extract the data
concerning the secret of the long existence of Chinese restaurants in Davao
City. The study on the exploration of the longevity of selected Chinese
restaurants in Davao City opens up a Pandora’s box of positive ways wherein
non-Chinese restaurants may copy the Chinese restaurants’ principles. The
result of the study strongly proved the veracity of the Attribution theory
developed by Weiner (1974), wherein the theory is concerned with how
individuals interpret events and how this relates to their thinking’s and
behaviors. It should be noted that the Chinese restaurateurs are studying and
observing the buying behaviour of the people in Davao City and they have
employed ways and techniques to attract the people and patronized their
products by providing quality food, services, and less expensive cuisines. The
secret of longevity of a restaurant is to provide the people comfortable place to
eat with quality food and less expenses from their pockets. The implication of
this study for future researchers will be to uncover the longevity of non Chinese restaurants and the reasons behind the closure of some restaurants
in Davao City.
