dc.description.abstractThe varieties of street foods differ from where it’s country’s origin. In the Philippines, there are many delicious and cheap local street foods to choose from but it’s not properly sanitized. One major concern with this is the difficulties and challenges encountered by the participants in eating street foods. Food safety guides and educates people on the advantages and disadvantages of eating this kind of food. Food-borne illness is one of the main worries when it comes to eating street foods, which people do not want to experience. With this, the researchers want to provide knowledge and effective solutions to prevent food-borne illness and how to apply food safety practices. The researchers used a qualitative approach to know why people eat street foods and the difficulties and challenges encountered by the participants in eating street foods. This research was conducted outside of the public mall, Poblacion Dos Bansalan Davao del Sur. This study conducted an in-depth interview (IDI) with ten street food consumers’ with guide questions for them to provide accurate answers. Based on the results, the researchers found out that there are five themes emerged in this study which is patronage, attitude, inexpensive, food quality and danger. The researchers also found out that most of the interviewed consumers’ had the same answers to the guide questions and that they have experienced getting sick after eating street foods. The researchers highly recommend that the local Municipality of Bansalan Davao del Sur must make a simple informative checklist for hygienic practices and federate the vendors for uniformity in case the local DOH have important information regarding the safety of food practices. This checklist will evaluate the food safety practice of the street food vendors to highlight the implementation of good hygiene standards.en_US
